Awesome find!

Recently, Jenny and I have been trying to find ways to eat healthier. We’ve been buying only cage-free, vegetarian-fed chicken eggs, trying to learn about and use spices that are healthy for you in what we cook, switching to only whole grain products, juicing fruit and vegetables, eating raw vegetables, cutting fat, sugars, not eating fast food, not buying or eating prepackaged foods….etc, etc.

I recently have been introduced (by Lisa) to a local farmer who sells fresh yard eggs (organic, no hormones and whose chickens certainly do NOT eat meat by-products), raw milk (straight from the cow – no hormones added), cheese made from raw milk and cheeses made from the actual milk and not the whey, local honey (good for allergies).

We have a long way to go in our research and healthy eating habits, but we have certainly made a great start! The next step is getting our garden boxes up and running and maybe getting our own cow and chickens 😛

I wish we were zoned to keep chickens. I’d love to try it! Though it might be a challenge to keep foxes out of the back yard. Foxes think chickens are tasty. They’re right, of course.

Yeah, I’d love to have a few chickens too….would probably have to make a chicken coup though to keep them safe (not from the foxes, but from my dogs) ..

You know, a Niceville lady had made a proposal to the city counsel to have 5 chickens in her back yard, but some people got a petition together and voted against it….betcha she’ll try again!
